NFS is an independent equipment leasing company based in Beverly, Massachusetts, serving growth-oriented companies in a variety of industries. We specialize in leasing technology equipment, scientific and medical equipment, as well as robotic, agricultural and construction equipment. As a Paralegal on our in-house legal team, you will work closely with our attorneys on matters spanning commercial litigation, financing transactions, recovery efforts and corporate and administrative legal matters, with real ownership over your work from day one. NFS’s close-knit, team-oriented culture means you will work directly with team members across all of our business functions, including our legal, operations, finance, sales, and executive teams to help NFS execute on its mission to provide capital to credit-challenged businesses.

Our ideal candidate has experience at a law firm assisting with commercial litigation in Massachusetts state courts and familiarity with creditors’ rights matters (bankruptcy experience a plus). You should be a proactive self-starter, eager to learn about our business, and willing to take ownership of projects.

With the adoption of AI tools, we are rethinking how legal work gets done. We are looking for someone eager to use LLMs and other AI tools to cut repetitive tasks, speed up drafting and research, and build work flows that fit NFS’s collaborative approach.

What you will do

• Support our senior in-house litigator in managing matters from case inception through judgment and collection.
• Track deadlines, dockets, and calendars for active matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• File documents in Massachusetts state courts and federal bankruptcy courts under attorney supervision.
• Conduct case and legal research using PACER, Westlaw, and AI tools.
• Draft pleadings, notices, motions, discovery, and subpoena responses, and prepare document productions, for attorney review.
• Oversee service of process and support judicial and non-judicial recovery efforts.
• Assist the legal team on transactional and general corporate matters.
• Participate in weekly litigation and loan workout strategy meetings.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and handle routine calls and correspondence with court clerks and customers.
• Identify inefficiencies and use Claude and other AI tools to streamline drafting, document review, and matter tracking.
• Build templates, prompts, and best practices the legal team can reuse.

What you bring

• Clear, concise written and verbal communication.
• Organized, proactive, diligent, and accountable.
• Analytical, with the ability to anticipate issues and needs.
• Able to proofread and organize legal documents and e-file in state and federal courts.
• Skilled with research tools, including PACER, Westlaw, and public and private online databases.
• Able to juggle multiple priorities and deliver solutions under deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Curious about AI and eager to adopt new tools; experience with Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools is a plus.
• Interest in transactional or corporate legal work is a plus. This role offers room to grow into that side of the practice.

We are conveniently located in Beverly, MA. Compensation is commensurate with experience and success.
