Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our new legal team at our new office in Glendale. The ideal candidate will provide essential support in legal and non-legal (administrative) tasks and desires to contribute to the success of the practice. This role requires a basic understanding of legal terminology, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Company Overview

Khalil Law Corporation has a diverse caseload, in federal and state courts, in the business, civil, real property, and trust/estates world. In business, we handle agreements, corporate compliance, formation/dissolution/mergers, and litigation. In civil matters, we take on a wide array of cases from plaintiffs and defendants. On the real property side, the firm handles agreements of all kinds, landlord-tenant disputes and litigation, homeowner rights, and transactional work. Finally, in trusts/estates, the firm does everything from estate planning to trust/estate administration. While we are consistently busy , you will find the work environment to be fairly casual and not intimidating at all.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting attorney(s), client(s), and other professionals with client projects, matters, and cases.
  • Conducting and analyze legal research - providing swift summaries of relevant statutes, case law, regulations, judicial decisions, and other legal sources.
  • Draft and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and discovery requests/responses - ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards and office procedures.
  • Performing clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized records - particularly with regards to billable hours and expense reporting.
  • Contacting clients re: intakes, discovery responses, depositions scheduling and reminders, and (rarely) trial preparation.
  • Provide executive administrative support to attorney(s), including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, professionally greeting in-person clients in a hospitable manner, preparing conference room for consultations, and - infrequently - interviewing clients when attorney is unavailable.
  • Managing document management systems for efficient retrieval and storage of files - digital and physical - by preparing , storing, and retrieving case files in an organized manner.
  • Tracking deadlines and coordinating tasks.
  • Organizing and collaborating on various legal projects, providing support as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in legal research techniques and familiarity with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Ability to review documents meticulously for accuracy and completeness.
  • Familiarity with document management systems is an asset.
  • Strong project management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Office experience preferred; however, most duties/responsibilities will be trained.
  • While knowledge of the law is NOT required, it helps, and a desire to learn the law surely is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 – 40.0 per week
