Municipal Law & Land Use Attorney (Public Agency)

Schedule: Full-time, hybrid, with remote flexibility. Must be available for client meetings, planning commission meetings, and public hearings.

Municipal Law & Land Use Attorney | Fullerton, CA | Hybrid | 1 Opening

An established California law firm that represents only public agencies is hiring an attorney to advise cities and public bodies. This is a transactional and advisory role, not a litigation-heavy one.

Pay: $165,000 to $180,000

What you'll do:

  • Advise cities and public agencies on municipal law
  • Serve as legal counsel to planning commissions and public boards
  • Guide clients on the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act
  • Advise on land use, zoning, entitlements, and development agreements
  • Provide CEQA and NEPA legal analysis
  • Draft and negotiate contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions
  • Attend planning commission, council, and public meetings

What we need:

  • Active California Bar license
  • 5+ years representing public agencies on transactional and advisory matters
  • Direct experience advising planning commissions or other public bodies
  • Strong knowledge of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act
  • Significant experience in land use, zoning, CEQA/NEPA, or development agreements (water, election, First Amendment, or fair housing law also count)
  • Excellent writing and client counseling skills
  • Law firm experience (no solo practitioners)
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Pay: $165,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
