What does each one cost a law firm to try?
Indeed costs nothing to start.
Many jobs can be posted for free, subject to Indeed's terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits, and you only spend when you decide to sponsor.
Two limits sit on the same page: some jobs are treated as sponsored only — for example roles aggregated from a careers page, published from a data feed or coming from an applicant tracking system — and Indeed reserves the right to require that a job must be sponsored for any reason.
New US accounts can also claim a $75 credit toward a first sponsorship through Indeed's role hiring pages (paralegal, lawyer, attorney, legal assistant and legal secretary), as long as the account posts a job; the credit expires one year after account creation.
ZipRecruiter starts new employers on a free trial — its sign-up page says "Try ZipRecruiter for FREE Today".
LawFirmHires has no free option for employers — posting is the product.
A Standard post is $199 and a Featured post $399 at launch pricing (regular $299 and $499), each a one-time payment that runs for 30 days.
The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
How does each one charge once the free part ends?
Indeed bills Sponsored Jobs by interaction: invoices reflect the amount spent on job seeker interactions like clicks or started applications from the previous billing period.
It publishes no fixed rate.
The Standard price is generated by Indeed's recommendation system based on factors such as job competitiveness, your hiring timeline and the supply of job seekers; a minimum appears on the sponsorship page, and you can set a different amount as long as it meets that minimum.
Billing lands on the first day of the month or when account spending reaches $500, whichever comes first.
On top of that sit four tiers — Free, Standard, Premium and Premium Plus — with Indeed's own figures (self-reported) promising Standard 3X more applications than free and Premium the top 3 search results 2X more often than Standard; Premium Plus is a beta AI Recruiting Assistant.
Indeed states: no long-term contracts, and you set the ad duration.
ZipRecruiter offers new employers a free trial; no plan prices are published on its sign-up page, so the ongoing spend is not something you can total in advance.
LawFirmHires charges once.
A post is a flat fee — $199 Standard, $399 Featured — paid at purchase and never renewed.
Firms that are always hiring can move to a slot plan instead: $899 a month for up to 10 posts live at once or $1,749 a month for up to 25, arranged by contacting LawFirmHires, billed monthly, and cancelable whenever you choose with no contract.
Which one puts a legal opening in front of legal candidates?
Neither site is built around legal hiring.
Indeed is a general job site covering every industry, and it gives legal roles their own hiring pages — paralegal, lawyer, attorney, legal assistant and legal secretary.
ZipRecruiter's sign-up page has nothing legal-specific on it; its pitch is breadth across boards rather than depth in law: a job post, it says, "gets sent to 100+ job sites with one click" (self-reported).
LawFirmHires is the one of the three that is legal-only.
Its 47 role pages are all legal: attorneys by level and practice area, and the staff roles — paralegals, legal assistants, secretaries, intake, docketing, billing, eDiscovery and firm administration.
In-house, government, prosecutor and public defender attorney roles are listed too, so it is not a board of law firm jobs only.
When is Indeed the better fit, and when is ZipRecruiter?
Indeed fits a firm that wants to start free and pay only where it counts.
The free organic post and the $75 first-sponsorship credit make it a low-commitment way to test how a legal posting performs — Indeed states there are no long-term contracts, and you set the ad duration.
Indeed's own data (self-reported) also indicates that Sponsored Jobs posted directly on Indeed with the Urgently Hiring label make a hire 5 days faster than non-sponsored jobs, based on median United States data from Q2 2024.
The trade is screening and budget management: you are buying interactions like clicks and started applications at a price Indeed's recommendation system generates from factors such as job competitiveness and the supply of job seekers, from candidates across every industry.
ZipRecruiter fits a firm that wants one posting to fan out widely.
Its sign-up page says a job post "gets sent to 100+ job sites with one click" (self-reported), and the free trial lets a firm see the product before paying anything.
The trade is the price you cannot see in advance: no plan prices are published on its sign-up page.
Applications arriving from a general board can come from any industry, so the review for attorney, paralegal or staff fit still happens inside your firm.
Where does LawFirmHires fit as the third option?
LawFirmHires is a job board built only for legal jobs — attorneys and the legal staff who work alongside them — so every listing sits among legal roles rather than every industry's.
When the goal is one legal opening at a cost you know in advance, the flat one-time price does that: $199 for a Standard post or $399 for Featured at launch pricing, live 30 days, with candidates applying at the firm's own form or inbox because there is no candidate profile system in the middle.
That is a different shape from an interaction budget generated by a recommendation system, or a plan with no published prices.
Firms hiring several roles at once can move to a monthly slot plan instead.
It is not a reach substitute: a general board puts a posting in front of more industries, and a legal-only board puts it among legal ones.
The two do different jobs, so running both is straightforward — keep whatever general-board setup you have, and post the opening here when it is a legal role.
The LawFirmHires fact sheet lists its prices and policies with the page each fact comes from.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Indeed if…
- You want to test a legal posting with a free organic post before spending anything.
- You are comfortable funding a sponsorship budget billed for interactions like clicks and started applications, above a minimum the sponsorship page sets.
- You want no long-term contract and to set the ad duration yourself.
- You are a new US account that can put the $75 first-sponsorship credit to use.
Choose ZipRecruiter if…
- You want a single posting distributed to many job boards at once (ZipRecruiter says 100+, self-reported).
- You would rather try the product before paying: new employers can start on a free trial.
- You want the distribution handled in one click rather than posting to each board yourself.
Choose LawFirmHires if…
- You are hiring attorneys or legal staff and want every listing to sit among legal roles, not every industry's.
- You want a known flat price per post — $199 Standard or $399 Featured at launch pricing — instead of a budget that varies with the market or a plan with no published prices.
- You hire often enough that a monthly slot plan (10 or 25 posts live at once) beats paying per post.
- You want applications going straight to the firm's own form or inbox.
Frequently asked questions
Is Indeed free for posting a paralegal or attorney job?
Many jobs are.
Indeed says jobs can be posted for free, subject to its terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits.
Some jobs are sponsored only — for example roles aggregated from a careers page, published from a data feed or coming from an applicant tracking system — and Indeed reserves the right to require that a job must be sponsored for any reason.
When you sponsor, you pay for interactions like clicks or started applications.
How much does Indeed sponsorship cost a law firm?
Indeed publishes no fixed price.
The Standard price is generated by its recommendation system based on factors such as job competitiveness, your hiring timeline and the supply of job seekers; the minimum appears on the sponsorship page and depends on factors including the job seekers available in your market.
You can set any budget that meets the minimum, and billing lands on the first day of the month or when account spending reaches $500, whichever comes first.
Does ZipRecruiter have a free trial for employers?
Yes.
ZipRecruiter's sign-up page tells employers to "Try ZipRecruiter for FREE Today".
No plan prices are published on that page, so what a firm pays after the trial is not something you can read in advance.
Which is cheaper for a law firm, Indeed or ZipRecruiter?
Neither publishes a number you can compare: Indeed's sponsorship is a per-interaction budget with no fixed published rate, and no plan prices are published on ZipRecruiter's sign-up page.
If you want the total known before you spend, a flat one-time price does that — LawFirmHires charges $199 for a Standard post or $399 for Featured at launch pricing, paid once, with nothing to renew.
Do Indeed or ZipRecruiter specialize in legal hiring?
No. Indeed is a general job site covering every industry, and it maintains hiring pages for legal roles — paralegal, lawyer, attorney, legal assistant and legal secretary.
ZipRecruiter shows nothing legal-specific on the sign-up page we checked; it says a job post is sent to 100+ job sites with one click (self-reported).
LawFirmHires is the legal-only option of the three: a board built only for legal jobs.
Is LawFirmHires only for law firm jobs?
Mostly, but not only.
The board lists openings at law firms for associates, partners, paralegals, legal assistants, secretaries, intake, docketing, billing and administrative staff, and it also lists in-house, government, prosecutor and public defender attorney roles.
It is a job board, not a staffing agency or recruiter: it does not screen candidates, and it does not guarantee that a listing results in a hire.
Can a firm use a general board and LawFirmHires together?
Yes.
A general board gives a legal posting breadth across industries; a legal-only board puts the same opening among legal roles.
Because a LawFirmHires post is a one-time payment — $199 Standard or $399 Featured at launch pricing, live for 30 days — adding it alongside whatever general-board setup you already run is a contained spend with no contract.
