Where should you post a paralegal job?
Start with the boards built for legal work, then add reach.
For a paralegal opening, the shortlist looks like this:
- NALA's Career Center — free, and paralegal-focused by rule: jobs must be of interest to paralegals, and every post passes NALA's review before it goes live.
- LawFirmHires — a flat one-time price per post on a board built only for legal jobs, where paralegals get their own role page.
- Indeed — the general-audience volume play: many jobs post free, and sponsorship is there if the free post stalls.
- LinkedIn — promoted posts are pay-per-click, capped by the daily or total budget you set.
- ALA Job Board and NALS Career Center — association boards worth member pricing, if your firm is already in that world.
- iHireLegal — monthly slots for firms that always seem to be hiring.
- Lawjobs.com — premium packages that bundle a paralegal listing with ALM eNewsletter and print ads at the top tier.
And when the need is temporary cover rather than a permanent hire, a staffing firm such as Robert Half does something a job board does not: it supplies the person, not the applicants.
What does each site cost to post a paralegal job?
Free: NALA's Career Center charges employers nothing — "There is no fee to list."
On Indeed, many jobs post free subject to Indeed's terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits; sponsorship is a budget you control, priced by Indeed's recommendation system rather than a published rate card.
Flat per-post: LawFirmHires charges $199 for a Standard 30-day post or $399 for Featured at launch pricing, one payment with nothing to renew.
Association member pricing: the ALA Job Board runs $330–$690 for members and $530–$890 for non-members, with a 3-job Standard package at $790 for members.
NALS Career Center runs $300–$650 for members and $350–$700 for non-members depending on tier and length.
Slots: iHireLegal is $369 a month for 1 job slot, $450 for 3 or $799 for 10 — quarterly terms drop those to $316, $405 and $733 a month.
Premium packages: Lawjobs.com sells Ultimate Reach at $1,299 for 60 days, Extended Reach at $795 for 30 days with a two-week regional ALM eNewsletter ad and High Visibility at $695 for 30 days — the top package adds ALM eNewsletter and print advertising around the listing.
The other two models: LinkedIn bills promoted posts per click within the daily or total budget you set.
Robert Half, the staffing firm, publishes no prices on the pages we checked.
Which sites reach paralegals specifically?
NALA's Career Center is the only one on this list that is paralegal-only by rule: jobs must be of interest to paralegals, and NALA reviews and approves each one before it posts.
NALS is the association for legal support professionals, and its featured jobs have included litigation paralegal and docket clerk openings next to attorney roles.
The legal boards cover paralegals as a category rather than the whole audience.
LawFirmHires has a dedicated paralegal role page on a board built only for legal jobs; the ALA Job Board recruits paralegals and legal assistants alongside the firm management roles it is built around; iHireLegal is a legal-focused job site; and Lawjobs.com lists a paralegal category among attorney, counsel, legal secretary and administrative assistant categories.
Indeed and LinkedIn reach paralegals too, but as one listing among everything else.
Are the free options actually free?
NALA's is free outright, with a trade-off in process rather than money: jobs must be of interest to paralegals and must be reviewed and approved by NALA prior to posting, and NALA reserves the right not to approve submissions it considers unsuitable for the Career Center.
If your post clears review, you have paid nothing for a posting on a paralegal-focused job bank.
Indeed's free tier is free with caveats: posting is subject to Indeed's terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits, some jobs are "sponsored only", and Indeed reserves the right to require that a job must be sponsored for any reason.
For new US accounts that post a job, the $75 credit on Indeed's paralegal hiring page softens the first sponsored budget, and it expires one year after account creation.
LinkedIn is the one to budget for: promoted posts are pay-per-click — you only pay for clicks in the country in which the job is posted — within the daily or total budget you set.
When is a staffing firm the better move?
A board advertises your opening; a staffing firm fills the desk.
Robert Half's legal practice supplies contract and full-time attorney, paralegal and legal-support talent to law firms and corporations, and says it can often help you hire in as little as 48 hours — a self-reported figure.
That makes it the fit for maternity cover, a sudden departure or a litigation spike, where waiting out a 30-day posting is not an option.
The Robert Half pages we checked publish no prices, so budgeting means a conversation rather than a rate card.
For a permanent paralegal hire with a normal runway, a posting on the boards above is the direct route: you advertise the role and screen the applications yourself.
How we compared
Every price, package and term in the table was read on each company's own website on October 5, 2026, and each fact links to the page it came from in the sources list.
Where a company does not publish a figure, the table says "Not published" rather than guessing.
We compared on what an employer with one paralegal opening actually pays for: cost, how long the post runs, and whether the audience is paralegal-specific or general.
We stuck to what each company publishes about itself — prices, terms and audiences — and left out anything third parties say about them.
LawFirmHires' own prices are launch pricing, taken from our fact sheet.
Which one should you choose?
Choose NALA's Career Center if…
- The opening is squarely paralegal work, so the jobs-must-interest-paralegals rule is no barrier.
- You want to spend nothing on the listing.
- A review-and-approval step before the post goes live is acceptable.
Choose LawFirmHires if…
- You want the opening seen on a board that lists only legal jobs, where paralegals get their own role page.
- You prefer a flat one-time price ($199 at launch pricing) to a pay-per-click budget.
- You are hiring other firm roles too, and want every post on its matching role page.
Choose Indeed if…
- Applicant volume matters more than a niche audience, and you are prepared to screen.
- You want to start free and add a sponsored budget only if the free post stalls.
- You are a new US account that can use the $75 credit on the paralegal hiring page.
Choose LinkedIn if…
- The paralegals you want are employed and not scanning job boards.
- You would rather pay per click than per post.
- You are hiring in one country, since "you only pay for clicks in the country in which the job is posted".
Choose iHireLegal if…
- You expect to keep several legal roles open all quarter.
- You would rather swap jobs in and out of slots than buy a new post each time.
- You want a monthly cost you can cancel rather than a per-post purchase.
Choose the ALA Job Board if…
- Your firm is already an ALA member and can post at member rates.
- You are hiring firm management roles and a paralegal in the same batch.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I post a paralegal job for free?
Two of the nine options here post free.
NALA's Career Center lists jobs at no fee as long as they are of interest to paralegals and pass NALA's review before posting.
On Indeed, many jobs can be posted for free, subject to Indeed's terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits — though Indeed can require that a job be sponsored.
LinkedIn's promoted posts are pay-per-click, so budget for them.
How much does it cost to post a paralegal job on Indeed?
Indeed has no fixed published price.
It generates a recommended budget from its recommendation system — job competitiveness, your hiring timeline and the supply of job seekers — and the minimum for your job appears on the sponsorship page.
You can set a different amount as long as it meets that minimum.
New US accounts that post a job can start with a $75 sponsorship credit from Indeed's paralegal hiring page; it expires one year after account creation.
Is NALA's job bank really free for employers?
Yes.
NALA states there is no fee to list a job on its Career Center.
The trade-off is editorial rather than financial: jobs must be of interest to paralegals and must be reviewed and approved by NALA prior to posting, and NALA reserves the right not to approve submissions it considers unsuitable for the Career Center.
How long should a paralegal job posting stay up?
Match the run to your hiring timeline — the boards sell different lengths: NALS sells 30-, 60- and 90-day posts and the ALA Job Board sells 30- and 60-day tiers.
LawFirmHires runs each post for 30 days, and Lawjobs.com's packages run 30 or 60 days.
On LawFirmHires, support pulls a post early on request once the role is filled.
What is the best job board to hire a paralegal?
It depends on the hire.
For a zero-cost, paralegal-only listing, NALA's Career Center.
For a legal-only audience at a flat one-time price, LawFirmHires — $199 for a 30-day post at launch pricing.
For applicant volume and a willingness to screen, Indeed.
The ALA and NALS association boards fit firms already plugged into those groups, iHireLegal's slots fit continuous hiring, and a staffing firm such as Robert Half fits temp and contract cover.
Should I use a recruiter or a job board for a paralegal hire?
A job board puts your opening in front of candidates and you screen the applications yourself; a staffing firm such as Robert Half supplies the talent instead, including temp and contract paralegals.
The Robert Half pages we checked publish no prices, and the company says it can often help you hire in as little as 48 hours — a self-reported figure.
For a permanent hire with a normal runway, boards sell the posting; a staffing firm sells the placement.
