Schedule: Full-time, hybrid. Two weeks of training in the Fullerton office, then remote work while staying local for court and client meetings. Relocation is possible for attorneys already licensed and practicing in California.

Senior Civil Defense Trial Attorney | Citrus Heights (Sacramento Area), CA | Hybrid | 1 Opening

An established California law firm that represents only public agencies is hiring an experienced civil defense trial attorney. You'll manage your own caseload of complex, high-exposure cases and serve as first-chair trial counsel.

Pay: $200,000 to $250,000+, based on years of experience

What you'll do:

• Manage civil litigation from start through appeal
• Try high-exposure cases as first chair, including jury selection
• Take depositions and handle discovery and witness preparation
• Argue motions, including motions in limine
• Retain and prepare expert witnesses
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and appellate filings
• Advise public agency clients on strategy and risk

What we need:

• Active California Bar license
• 8+ years of civil litigation defense or insurance defense experience
• First-chair experience in at least 6 jury trials and 3 bench trials to verdict in California Superior Court
• Strong knowledge of the California Evidence Code and civil procedure
• Experience with tort, personal injury, public entity, or government cases
• Excellent writing, advocacy, and negotiation skills
• Law firm experience (no solo practitioners)
