Employer: Klein & Sheridan
Practice Area: Consumer Protection Litigation
Location: Remote, with in-person litigation appearances as required
Required: Active North Carolina law license and litigation experience
Compensation: $20,000 guaranteed initial stipend + percentage of collected attorney's fees
Benefits: Health insurance, long-term disability insurance, and 401(k)
Position Description
Klein & Sheridan is seeking a North Carolina-licensed litigation associate to join its consumer protection practice and assume a full, existing caseload.
We are looking for an attorney who wants to practice law and litigate cases: taking depositions, conducting discovery, developing evidence, working directly with clients, and moving cases toward resolution.
The associate will take and defend depositions, conduct written discovery, analyze evidence, draft pleadings and motions, prepare clients and witnesses, communicate with opposing counsel, and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and other litigation proceedings.
The successful candidate will be given meaningful responsibility for an existing docket and will work directly with clients throughout the litigation process.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
Consumer protection experience is a plus, but it is not required. Attorneys with litigation experience in other practice areas, whether representing plaintiffs or defendants, are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
This position uses a performance-based compensation structure rather than a traditional fixed salary.
During the attorney's first four months with the firm, Klein & Sheridan will provide a guaranteed $20,000 stipend, paid in biweekly installments.
The stipend is not a draw or advance against future compensation. It is separate from and will not reduce the attorney's subsequent percentage-based compensation.
In addition to the stipend, the associate will receive an agreed percentage of the attorney's fees actually collected by Klein & Sheridan from matters assigned to or handled by the associate, subject to the firm's compensation agreement.
The successful candidate will begin with an existing caseload rather than being expected to generate a caseload from scratch.
Benefits
Klein & Sheridan provides:
