Professional Liability Paralegal

Eckert Seamans is a full-service national law firm with a strong reputation and history of success that spans more than 65 years. With approximately 300 lawyers across a network of 14 offices, we provide clients with proactive, solution-oriented business and litigation counsel. We are seeking an experienced Professional Liability Paralegal for our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze medical records for preparation of medical chronologies 
• File documents with courts
• Summarize cases and prepare reports for attorneys
• Organization and management of documents, including managing spreadsheets and retrieval systems
• Act as liaison among various parties including court for scheduling and sharing information
• Coordinate the collection, review and production of documents and respond to discovery requests
• Assist with conducting research and investigating facts
• Assist with trial preparation including assembly of exhibits, witness binders and appendices for depositions and court filings
• Coordination of large-scale document jobs with Office Services
• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Med Mal experience is required

• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to function well in a high paced environment
• Knowledge of legal terminology and U.S. legal system
• Aptitude for learning new applications, systems and processes
• Proficient with electronic court filing 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office365
• Proficient with document management systems, iManage preferred
• Proficient in ShareFile and Kroll preferred
• Extensive experience with reviewing and organizing medical records

 Education and Experience:

• High school degree or equivalent required; college degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experience
• Minimum five (5) years substantive experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a law firm setting
