Professional Liability Attorney

About the Job

Murchison & Cumming, LLP is seeking a Professional Liability Attorney with 4+ years of litigation experience to join a practice representing architects, engineers, real estate professionals, insurance agents and brokers, accountants and other professionals in malpractice matters.

The work is substantive and varied, involving sophisticated clients and fact patterns that often require both strong legal analysis and an understanding of the underlying profession. Attorneys have the opportunity to manage cases, develop strategy, interact directly with clients and build specialized expertise within the practice.

This is a remote position for attorneys residing in California. Most Murchison & Cumming attorneys work from home. Office space is available for attorneys who prefer to work in an office. In-person attendance is required when necessary for litigation and client responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage professional liability matters from intake through resolution
• Evaluate liability, damages and litigation strategy
• Draft motions, discovery and legal memoranda
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Appear at hearings, mediations and other proceedings
• Work directly with clients and claims professionals
• Participate in settlement negotiations and trial preparation
• Collaborate with experienced professional liability and trial attorneys

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Active and in good standing with the California State Bar
• 4+ years of litigation experience
• Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills
• Courtroom and deposition experience
• Ability to manage matters independently
• Must reside in California

• Salary: $145,000 - $225,000
