Join our Personal Injury law firm as an Experienced Personal Injury Medical Records Coordinator! In this role, you will be the cornerstone of efficient medical records management, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant handling of patient information related to personal injury cases.
Key Responsibilities
Subrogation & Lien Management:
Identify, track, and audit subrogation claims and medical liens from private health insurance, Medicare (CMS), Medi-Cal (DHCS), ERISA self-funded plans, and workers' compensation.
Records Retrieval & Coordination: Draft and send compliant HIPAA authorization requests to hospitals, imaging centers, and providers across the Greater Los Angeles area to secure complete medical charts and billing ledgers.
File Auditing & Chronologies: Review and organize voluminous electronic case files into clear, chronological formats, cross-referencing medical treatments against billing entries to ensure no gaps in the evidence.
Internal Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between attorneys, case managers, local medical providers, and health insurance adjusters to keep case files updated for settlement demands or trial preparation.
Records Retrieval: Request and coordinate medical records, bills, police reports, and investigative materials from healthcare providers and external agencies.
Tracking & Follow-Up: Monitor outstanding documentation requests and maintain persistent, timely follow-ups until files are complete.
File Auditing: Review and organize electronic case files into clear, chronological formats, identifying missing or inconsistent data.
Communication: Maintain professional communication with clients, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and legal staff.
Compliance & Confidentiality: Ensure all handling of sensitive patient data adheres strictly to HIPAA regulations and privacy laws.
Case Support: Assist attorneys and case managers in evaluating treatment details, preparing exhibits, and resolving medical liens.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
1 to 2 years of experience working in a personal injury law firm in a role for legal medical records management with a strong grasp of medical terminology, billing codes, and legal documentation processes including subrogation.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 per week
