Job Description

Beaumont Tashjian, a highly respected California law firm and recognized leader in the representation of homeowners’ associations, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal / General Counsel Legal Assistant to join our growing team in Agoura Hills.

This is a hybrid position combining substantive litigation paralegal responsibilities with legal and administrative support for attorneys handling general counsel, governing documents, and other HOA-related matters. The position is best suited for an experienced paralegal who has a strong foundation in California litigation and is also comfortable assisting attorneys with transactional, corporate, and project-based legal work.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing deadlines and assignments in a fast-paced law firm environment. Strong litigation experience, excellent written communication and proofreading skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously are essential.

Key ResponsibilitiesLitigation Paralegal Support

  • Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, notices, and other legal documents in California state and federal courts
  • Manage litigation calendars and independently monitor court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, trial dates, and other critical dates using rules-based calendaring systems
  • Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, including case management, discovery, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and post-judgment matters
  • Draft discovery, correspondence, notices, routine pleadings, and court forms for attorney review
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, court appearances, expert retention, service of process, and other litigation-related activities
  • Organize and maintain electronic case files, exhibits, document productions, deposition materials, and trial preparation materials
  • Assist with document review, discovery responses, subpoenas, and collection and organization of evidence and records
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, process servers, and other vendors
  • Track assignments and proactively follow up with attorneys regarding approaching deadlines and outstanding matters

General Counsel & Governing Documents Support

  • Assist attorneys with general counsel, governing documents, corporate, and project-based matters for homeowners’ associations
  • Assist with projects from initial assignment through completion, including tracking deadlines, outstanding information, attorney assignments, and next steps
  • Draft, proofread, finalize, and prepare correspondence, client communications, legal documents, and other materials using firm templates
  • Prepare draft emails and correspondence for attorney review in response to client inquiries and project status requests
  • Prepare and process filings with the California Secretary of State and county recorder’s offices and track filings through completion
  • Review matter files, emails, and document management systems to gather information and prepare project status updates
  • Schedule meetings and conference calls and assist with attorney calendar management
  • Communicate with clients and management professionals regarding documents, project status, scheduling, and other routine matters under attorney direction
  • Assist with special projects, internal initiatives, and other legal support responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of California litigation paralegal experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of California civil procedure, court rules, litigation deadlines, and state and federal electronic filing systems
  • Paralegal certificate and/or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Prior law firm experience required
  • Experience independently managing litigation calendars and court deadlines strongly preferred
  • Strong drafting, proofreading, and document preparation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor
  • Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to identify and follow through on outstanding assignments
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Experience with Westlaw, LexisNexis, or comparable legal research platforms
  • Experience with legal practice management and document management systems
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff
  • HOA, community association, real estate, or corporate law experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must be adaptable and willing to provide both substantive paralegal support and legal administrative assistance based on the needs of the firm

Pay: $36.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
