Litigation Paralegal

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Litigation Paralegal with a strong background in insurance defense to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage a robust caseload, with a primary focus on comprehensive medical and institutional record procurement, analysis, and discovery management. This position requires a self-starter who excels at working independently while collaborating seamlessly within a group setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Record Management & Analysis: Request, track, and obtain medical, billing, employment, and other case-related records from appropriate facilities. Ensure all obtained records are complete and accurate. Draft detailed medical summaries and medical bills summaries for attorney review.
• Pleadings & Discovery: Draft legal pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses. Manage high-volume document production, including meticulous Bates labeling and organization.
• Expert Witnesses: Assist in the identification, vetting, and retention of expert witnesses, including coordinating record reviews and maintaining expert files.
• Trial & Mediation Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and mediations by compiling comprehensive trial/mediation notebooks and organizing exhibits.
• Case Coordination: Schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings. Maintain direct, professional communication with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Certification: Must possess a valid Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program.
• Experience: Proven experience working within an insurance defense law firm.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, and electronic filing (e-filing) systems.
• Document Handling: Demonstrated experience handling a large volume of documents, specifically relating to complex discovery requests and medical records.
• Billing: Ability to consistently meet a billable hour requirement of 80 hours per month.
• Core Competencies: Exceptional communication and time management skills, strong medical-chronology drafting abilities, and the capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $67,500.00 per year
