Kind & Dashoff, LLC is a family-owned Maryland law firm that has served clients throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C. for more than 30 years. We are seeking a motivated and capable Litigation Associate Attorney to join our growing practice.

This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants to actually practice law and develop as a litigator. Courtroom experience is a significant part of the position, and successful candidates can expect to begin handling court appearances within their first few weeks with the firm.

You will work directly with the firm's partners and experienced attorneys, with hands-on guidance and mentoring while also being given the opportunity to take responsibility and develop your own judgment as an attorney.

What You'll Do

Approximately 50% of the position involves courtroom litigation and related court appearances. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing for and appearing in District and Circuit Court proceedings
• Handling motions hearings, trials, settlement conferences, garnishment hearings, show-cause hearings, and other civil litigation matters
• Drafting complaints, answers, motions, oppositions, discovery, pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents
• Conducting legal research and developing litigation strategy
• Preparing witnesses and clients for hearings, trials, and other proceedings
• Communicating directly with clients regarding their cases
• Negotiating settlements and resolving disputed matters
• Handling litigation matters from preparation through court appearance
• Reviewing and analyzing legal issues and making appropriate recommendations
• Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, court rules, and professional obligations

The position provides exposure to a wide variety of civil litigation matters, giving associates the opportunity to develop practical courtroom, writing, negotiation, and case-management skills.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an attorney who is:

• Admitted to practice law in Maryland
• Motivated to develop as a civil litigator
• A strong legal writer and communicator
• Comfortable appearing in court or eager to develop courtroom confidence
• Organized and able to manage competing deadlines
• Detail-oriented and conscientious
• Able to exercise sound judgment and take initiative
• Comfortable working independently while knowing when to seek guidance
• Professional and personable when dealing with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and court personnel
• Interested in building a long-term career in a small-firm environment

Recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply. Prior litigation experience is welcome, but there is no fixed maximum experience requirement. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
