Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Wells Marble & Hurst, PLLC, located in Ridgeland, MS, has an immediate full-time opening for an experienced legal assistant/paralegal specializing in litigation. Applicants should have at least 5-7 years of experience and be proficient in all necessary computer applications, legal research, and related tasks necessary to support multiple attorneys. This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and thorough knowledge of Word Perfect. Although a legal assistant position, it will have significant paralegal responsibilities as well. Paralegal requirements include: in depth understanding of state and federal court systems and rules; communication with clients; maintain calendars and deadlines; organize and maintain files; e-file legal documents; compile, prepare and summarize relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in prepare motions, briefs and other legal documents; summarize depositions and medical records; maintain case files; perform online research and simple legal research; track and control discovery; preparation for trial.
