Aimee Melich Law, P.A. | Bankruptcy & Real Estate Law

Okay, real talk: we’re a boutique bankruptcy and real estate law firm with pink décor, a growing team, and a genuine passion for helping people get a fresh financial start.

And we’re growing again.

We are currently looking to add multiple bilingual English/Spanish team members to our office. Depending on your experience, personality, strengths, and what you naturally excel at, you may be a great fit for one of several roles within our legal support team.

Potential positions include:

  • Document Collection / Pre-Filing Legal Assistant
  • Post-Filing Bankruptcy Legal Assistant
  • Reception / Client Services
  • Or a hybrid legal support role for the right person

We’re less interested in forcing the right candidate into a specific box and more interested in finding smart, dependable, organized people who take ownership of their work and genuinely care about helping clients.

If you’re organized, personable, persistent, dependable, and the kind of person who sees something that needs to be done and actually handles it, keep reading.

You might be our people.

The Vibe

Friendly? Yes.

Supportive? Absolutely.

Slow-paced? Ha, no.

We are a busy, growing law firm, and bankruptcy deadlines do not wait.

There are phones ringing, clients calling, documents coming in, court deadlines approaching, cases moving, and a team working together to keep everything on track.

We need people who enjoy that kind of environment.

You don’t need to know bankruptcy law on day one. Depending on the position, we’ll teach you our systems, processes, terminology, and what you need to know.

What’s much harder to teach is:

Follow-through. Reliability. Organization. Initiative. Accountability. And caring about doing the job well.

What You Might Be Doing

Your exact responsibilities will depend on the position we determine is the best fit for you.

Document Collection / Pre-Filing

You may be responsible for helping clients gather everything our legal team needs to prepare and file their bankruptcy case.

That can include:

  • Communicating with clients by phone, text, and email
  • Requesting and collecting financial documents
  • Following up on missing items
  • Reviewing documents to make sure they are complete, legible, and for the correct time period
  • Uploading and organizing client documents
  • Keeping accurate lists of what has been received and what is still missing
  • Helping clients understand where to obtain documents
  • Identifying stalled files and taking action to move them forward
  • Auditing files to make sure nothing is missing

And yes — sometimes that means texting, emailing, calling, and then calling again.

We’re looking for someone who understands that:

“I sent an email” is not the same thing as “the task is complete.”

Post-Filing Bankruptcy Support

You may work with clients after their Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy case has been filed.

That can include:

  • Communicating with clients about case updates, deadlines, documents, and next steps
  • Preparing clients for 341 meetings, hearings, and other important case events
  • Following up on post-filing requirements
  • Gathering additional documents requested by attorneys or trustees
  • Coordinating with attorneys, paralegals, trustees, court staff, and other team members
  • Calendaring deadlines, hearings, appointments, and reminders
  • Maintaining organized and accurate digital files
  • Assisting with case audits
  • Monitoring outstanding tasks and making sure cases continue moving toward confirmation, discharge, or completion
  • Escalating urgent issues to the appropriate team member

Reception / Client Services

You may be one of the first people our clients and potential clients interact with.

That can include:

  • Answering incoming calls
  • Greeting clients and visitors
  • Communicating in both English and Spanish
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Routing calls and messages to the correct team member
  • Helping clients understand who they need to speak with and what happens next
  • Following up on appointments or requested information
  • Assisting with basic administrative tasks
  • Keeping the front office organized and professional
  • Providing the warm, helpful experience we want every person contacting our firm to receive

Our receptionist is not simply someone who “answers phones.”

You are part of the client experience.

What Makes You a Great Fit

You’re probably going to thrive here if:

  • You are fully bilingual in English and Spanish — this is non-negotiable
  • You genuinely enjoy communicating with people
  • You are warm, professional, and confident on the phone
  • You can work with clients who may be stressed, overwhelmed, emotional, or frustrated
  • You are organized and can keep track of multiple things at once
  • You follow through without needing constant reminders
  • You understand that sometimes getting something done requires more than one attempt
  • You notice details other people miss
  • You are comfortable asking questions when you need clarification
  • Once you learn something, you take notes and apply it the next time
  • You can receive feedback without taking it personally
  • You are dependable and show up consistently and on time
  • You are comfortable with technology and learning new software
  • You like being part of a team but can also work independently
  • You take ownership instead of saying, “That’s not my job”
  • You naturally think, “What needs to happen next?”

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Law firms
  • Bankruptcy
  • Customer service
  • Medical offices
  • Financial services
  • High-volume administrative work
  • Microsoft Office
  • Clio
  • BestCase
  • Lawmatics
  • CRM or case-management systems

Prior legal experience is helpful, but it is not required for every position.

We would rather train someone with the right attitude, work ethic, organization, and initiative than hire someone experienced who doesn’t follow through.

A Big Part of Working Here Is Follow-Through

We’re going to be upfront about this because it matters in almost every role in our office.

Clients don’t always respond the first time.

Things get busy.

People forget.

Documents are missing.

Messages need to be returned.

Tasks need to be checked again.

If your natural instinct is:

“They didn’t answer, so I’ll try another way.”

You’ll probably do very well here.

If your instinct is:

“I already emailed them, so my part is done.”

This probably isn’t the right environment for you.

One Honest Heads-Up

This probably isn’t the right fit if you:

  • Don’t enjoy talking to people
  • Are uncomfortable making phone calls
  • Need constant reminders to complete your work
  • Have difficulty keeping track of multiple outstanding tasks
  • Get frustrated when someone doesn’t respond immediately
  • Consider something finished after one attempt
  • Struggle with receiving constructive feedback
  • Prefer waiting for someone to tell you exactly what to do next
  • Want a quiet, slow-paced office with very little change

We are looking for people who want to become trusted members of the team — the kind of people everyone knows they can count on.

Once you understand your role, we want you to own it.

And if you see a better way to do something?

Tell us.

We are a growing firm, and great ideas do not have to come from the person with the biggest title.

The Details

  • Schedule: Full-time preferred. At minimum, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Pay: Starting from $17.00/hour, depending on experience and position
  • Location: In person
  • Perks: Generous PTO, including your birthday off — because you deserve cake without a to-do list
  • Language: Professional fluency in both English and Spanish is required

And yes, you’ll get to see the pink office décor in real life.

About Us

Aimee Melich Law, P.A. is a boutique bankruptcy and real estate law firm helping clients navigate some of the most stressful financial situations of their lives.

We take that responsibility seriously.

We also believe that doing serious work doesn’t require having a boring workplace.

Our office is friendly, energetic, collaborative, client-focused, and constantly evolving as we grow.

We care about our clients.

We care about our team.

And we care about building systems that allow both to succeed.

We’re looking for people who want to grow with us.

Ready to Apply?

Send us your resume along with a short note telling us why you think you’d be a great fit for our team.

Please also answer the following questions:

  • Which type of role sounds most like you: working directly with clients and documents, managing ongoing case tasks and deadlines, being the first point of contact for clients, or a combination of these? Why?
  • A client says they will send you something you need but several days pass and you still haven’t received it. What do you do?
  • You have multiple clients, messages, deadlines, and unfinished tasks competing for your attention. How do you make sure nothing falls through the cracks?
  • Tell us about a time you had to repeatedly follow up with someone to get something completed. How did you handle it?
  • Tell us about a time you had to figure something out with limited guidance. What did you do?
  • On a scale of “color-coded spreadsheet” to “sticky notes everywhere,” how do you stay on top of your to-do list — and why does your system work for you?
  • What is a piece of feedback you received at a previous job that actually changed the way you work?
  • A client is frustrated and speaking to you emotionally, but you still need information from them. How would you handle the conversation?
  • Be honest: How do you feel about picking up the phone and calling someone multiple times when they haven’t responded?
  • What type of work makes you feel like, “Yep, I’m really good at this”?

We’re hiring for multiple positions, so even if you aren’t sure exactly where you fit, apply.

We may know.

We can’t wait to meet you!
