Alan Lee & Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law is seeking a motivated junior associate to join our immigration practice. This position is well suited to a recent law school graduate or an attorney with up to 2 years of experience wanting further development through mentorship, substantive legal work, and meaningful client interaction.

Our firm has represented individuals, families, professionals, entrepreneurs, and businesses in U.S. immigration matters for decades. Unlike practices in which junior attorneys are confined to a narrow category of cases or primarily perform form preparation, our associate will gain exposure to a broad range of employment and family-based immigration matters.

We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious, highly organized, attentive to detail, and genuinely interested in building a career in immigration law.

Responsibilities

The associate will work directly with the senior attorneys receiving training and feedback. Initially, the associate will work closely with the firm’s attorneys on case preparation and drafting, with the expectation of progressing toward greater responsibility for client communication, case strategy, and matter management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documentation.
  • Conducting legal research and analyzing complex immigration and procedural issues.
  • Drafting legal briefs, responses to requests for evidence, attorney support letters, and other persuasive submissions.
  • Communicating with clients regarding case strategy, eligibility requirements, document collection, and case developments.
  • Preparing filings before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of Labor, the Department of State, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, and federal courts, as applicable.
  • Appearing in immigration court and federal court as required.
  • Reviewing work prepared by legal assistants and ensuring that filings are accurate, complete, and properly supported.
  • Managing multiple cases and deadlines under attorney supervision.
  • Contributing to the improvement of the firm’s templates, procedures, and internal workflows.

Areas of Practice

The firm’s practice includes:

  • Family-based immigration
  • Adjustment of status and consular processing
  • Naturalization

  • EB-1B outstanding professor and researcher petitions
  • EB-2 national interest waivers
  • PERM labor certifications and employment-based permanent residence

  • L-1A and L-1B intracompany transferee petitions
  • O-1 extraordinary ability petitions
  • E-2 treaty investor and E-3 specialty occupation matters
  • Selected removal defense and federal litigation matters

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to at least one U.S. state bar, or passage of a state bar examination with admission pending.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professionalism and sound judgment when interacting with clients.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in immigration law.

Prior immigration experience is preferred but not required.

What We Offer

  • Direct mentorship and regular feedback from an experienced immigration attorney.
  • Hands-on training in both the legal and practical aspects of immigration representation.
  • Substantive experience with sophisticated employment-based and family-based immigration matters.
  • Meaningful client interaction and involvement in case strategy.
  • Opportunities to develop persuasive legal writing and case-management skills.
  • Increasing responsibility as the associate demonstrates readiness.
  • Exposure to the operation and development of a small law practice.
  • A collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Paid vacation and holidays.
  • Eligibility for salary increases and performance-based bonuses.
