Georgia Legal Services Program’s (“GLSP”) mission is to provide civil legal services for Georgians with low incomes, creating equal access to justice and opportunities out of poverty. Working at GLSP presents the opportunity to work on challenging, significant advocacy surrounded by dedicated, hard-working, creative colleagues. We fight for justice where it is most needed. GLSP seeks a legal fellow to represent students and families in discipline, access, and special education cases in various locations around the state. The fellow will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of student rights under state and federal law, while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people struggling in school. The fellowship will last two (2) years, with the opportunity to continue working with GLSP upon successful completion. Primary Responsibilities:• Litigate cases in administrative, state and federal forums, with a focus on student rights; • Draft appeal briefs, complaints, and memoranda;• Conduct community legal education sessions and engage in outreach activities;• Case work will focus on education law issues, including discipline, special education advocacy, enrollment, language access, and the rights of unhoused students.
