Civil Litigation Paralegal

Kuchler Polk Weiner, LLC is seeking an experienced, highly organized Civil Defense Litigation Paralegal with a minimum of 10 years of litigation experience, including demonstrated experience managing large, fast-paced dockets.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and technology skills, and the ability to effectively support multiple attorneys and matters simultaneously.

Candidates should have experience with filing procedures in Louisiana state and federal courts, a strong working knowledge of applicable court rules and deadlines, the ability to conduct legal research, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365. Experience with NetDocuments and legal research databases is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing complex dockets from initial case assignment through case resolution, including maintaining detailed tracking charts and case reports
• Assisting with trial preparation, hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings
• Preparing, organizing, and managing exhibits
• Noticing, scheduling, and coordinating depositions
• Maintaining discovery logs and tracking outstanding discovery
• Drafting pleadings, including answers, discovery requests, and discovery responses
• Managing attorney calendars and preparing weekly agendas of upcoming deadlines and docket obligations
• Monitoring and ensuring compliance with court-imposed, client, and other applicable deadlines
• Assisting with legal research as needed
• Managing and recording billable time entries in accordance with firm and client billing guidelines

The successful candidate must be proactive and dependable, with the ability to independently initiate tasks, follow matters through to completion, and consistently follow up as needed. The candidate must also maintain a strong awareness of assigned attorneys’ calendars, task lists, deadlines, and overall docket needs.

Position Details & Benefits

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional overtime as needed. The position offers the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week, subject to attorney approval and business needs.

A basic criminal background check is required and will be conducted after a conditional offer of employment and prior to the employee’s start date.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
