Civil Litigation Attorney

Blumenauer & Blumenauer, P.A. is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our civil litigation practice.

We are looking for more than someone who simply wants an attorney position. We want someone who is intellectually curious, works hard, takes ownership of their work, and is committed to continually improving their skills.

Our firm handles a broad range of civil litigation matters, including business, construction, and real estate disputes. We are a small firm where attorneys have meaningful responsibility, work directly with clients, and play an important role in developing and executing case strategy.

Who We Are Looking For:

The right candidate will have a growth mindset. We do not expect a new attorney to know everything. We do expect our attorneys to want to learn, accept constructive feedback, study their craft, and get better every day.

We welcome both new attorneys and attorneys with civil litigation experience.

For a newer attorney, we will invest substantial time in mentorship and development. You will have the opportunity to learn how to analyze cases, develop litigation strategy, take and defend depositions, draft and argue motions, work with experts, prepare cases for trial, and communicate effectively with clients.

For an experienced attorney, we are looking for someone who can bring existing litigation skills to the firm while continuing to develop professionally and helping strengthen the team around them.

Most importantly, we want force multipliers—people whose presence makes the entire team more effective. That means taking ownership, anticipating what needs to be done, solving problems rather than simply identifying them, helping teammates when necessary, and consistently looking for ways to improve the quality and efficiency of our work.

Responsibilities

The Associate Attorney will:

• Handle civil litigation matters from inception through resolution;
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy;
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and other legal documents;
• Take and defend depositions;
• Attend hearings, mediations, and other proceedings;
• Work directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel;
• Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials as experience permits;
• Manage deadlines and maintain organized and accurate case files;
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff on litigation strategy; and
• Take ownership of assigned matters and continually look for ways to improve both the work product and the results.

Qualifications

Candidates must:

• Be licensed to practice law in Florida, or be awaiting admission to The Florida Bar;
• Possess strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills;
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrate attention to detail and personal accountability;
• Be willing to work hard when a case requires it;
• Be receptive to feedback, coaching, and continued learning;
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team; and
• Approach the practice of law with professionalism, integrity, and a desire to continually improve.

Civil litigation experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to mentor and train the right new attorney. For experienced candidates, compensation and responsibilities will reflect experience and demonstrated ability.

Compensation & Opportunity

Starting salary is commensurate with experience, with opportunities for billable-hour profit sharing.

We want to develop attorneys who can analyze difficult problems, exercise sound judgment, handle significant matters, and ultimately become excellent litigators.
