Associate / Senior Associate Attorney Eterna Law — Redding, CA (Hybrid)
Most job postings oversell the firm or undersell the work. I am going to try to do neither and just be honest. My hope is that the right person reads this, and that if it speaks to them, they will reach out. We will talk, and we will have a real conversation about who we are, what we are building, and whether it is a fit for both of us.
Who we are
Eterna Law is a fast-growing firm founded in Redding, CA, with the goal of serving all of Northern California. We are small, but the work is already serious: we are handling real matters across Sacramento, Butte, Siskiyou, and Shasta counties.
Our mission is simple:
Together, we build lasting wealth. | Juntos construimos un patrimonio duradero.
We work in conjunction with our clients to build and protect lasting wealth, a legacy that endures beyond a single generation. That work spans probate, estate planning, conservatorships, real estate law, business law, and probate and trust litigation. You do not need experience in all of these, or even most of them, but you do need to be genuinely interested and willing to learn.
The firm has a bilingual and bicultural identity very much rooted in California: its people, its families, its businesses, and its entrepreneurial spirit. But you do not have to be bilingual or a Californian. We are equal opportunity not only in our hiring but in our mission, with equity, excellence, wholeness, and honesty at the heart of everything we do.
We are also a bit cutting-edge: we use AI and modern technology in our practice in a thoughtful way, to serve our clients more efficiently.
What you will get
Compensation
Roughly $130K–$150K plus bonus potential, with the specifics tied to the hours we agree on together. I would genuinely rather talk it through in an honest way than hand you a fixed number because the amount that you get paid does very much depend on billable time.
Benefits
We offer a benefits package built to support a sustainable life, including health insurance, paid time off and California paid sick leave, and retirement savings through a 401(k). We also cover the professional costs of practicing, including State Bar dues, continuing legal education, and malpractice coverage. We are glad to walk through the specifics with you.
Who you might be
We are open to both associate and senior associate candidates. As a rough guide, that might mean one to four years of experience for an associate and five or more for a senior associate, but we care more about judgment, drive, and fit than an exact number, and we will calibrate the role and compensation to the experience you bring.
The logistics
Hybrid. We value having people at the firm in Redding, being present to answer questions, work alongside the team, and handle the court appearances that are in person. At the same time, there is real room to work remotely, and we will figure out the right rhythm together.
One honest note to close
I am proud and privileged to get to do this work. But I need help, and I am ready to ask for it and to fully engage with the person who answers. If you are idealistic enough to believe a firm can work this way, and practical enough to help build one, I would love to hear from you.
Send your résumé, a short writing sample, and a few honest sentences about why this caught your eye to [email protected]. If we move forward together, we will also ask for a few professional references. There is no fixed deadline; we review applications as they come in and would welcome the right person as soon as we find each other. Let us talk.
Eterna Law is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act or federal law. Equity and inclusion are central to our mission, not an afterthought.
We are committed to an accessible hiring process. If you need a reasonable accommodation to apply or interview, let us know and we will work with you.
Any offer is contingent on confirming that you are licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California and on completion of our standard background check.
